After what will seem like an age to most UK and Irish based potential skilled migrants, the State Migration Plans (SMP's) for WA and QLD have finally been approved and details released. In line with most of the other approved SMP's, the main emphasis seems to be placed on key factors such as nominating an occupation from approved in demand lists / English language ability / relevant work experience and financial capacity. For many would be Australian skilled migrants some key questions still require clarification. How long will WA take to successfully nominate an applicant? How long will the SMP sponsorship be valid for? Is there a financial requirement for "settlement funds" as there is with most other States? If so what are the figures involved and evidence required? Australian visa applicants in the GSM category are no doubt  aware of yet more changes to the points based system for skilled migration planned for 1st July 2011. This makes the question regarding nomination processing time frames even more critical for many would be Australian skilled visa applicants. Like all Australian migration agents and consultants, we call on the States to bear both these scheduled policy changes and the many changes that have already occurred to Australian immigration during the last 2 years in mind and aim to process applications for Australian state sponsorship as swiftly as possible. For more details on these announced SMP's and to check your eligibility for skilled migration to Australia please contact us for a free and comprehensive  assessment.
